Graduate Student Appreciation Week
During the graduate appreciation week May 1-5, our ITE social media coordinator Hisham Jashami
was selected as one of the twenty-seven finalists to present his research at La Sells Stewart Center.
Oregon State University hosted these graduate students from across the university to showcase their
research. Hisham’s project involved determining why younger drivers persist in using cell phones
while driving. Cell phones are one of the most common driving distractions and can negatively impact
drivers in terms of their ability to maintain lane position, speed, and eyes on the road. Hisham
believes that be part of an event like the showcase is a good opportunity to share our ideas, and it can
provide us with professional development and network opportunities. Moreover, it is worth arriving
hungry because free food and snacks will be always provided!!
Thanks to Hisham, who represented our ITE chapter and participated in the Graduate Student
Appreciation Week!
